Just Breath: Pause and Focus on the Little Things

In the last decade or so, one of the most noticeable occurrences or trends that have taken place on a global scale, a movement so to speak, and one that brings great joy to my heart is that of what some circles are referring to as new age spirituality. For those belonging to this group, in particular, there are alternative expressions to describe what is taking place at this level. Discussions in this specific realm ring out with rallying call that talk of a great spiritual awakening that is taken place here on planet Earth, and that this is a period of great ascension, which speaks directly to the title of this website, with terminology amongst these individuals such as, 'that person is woke,' like one might associate with actor Jim Carrey, as opposed to the alternative view which is that he has lost his mind. And what this expression means on the most rudimentary level is that the individual has awoken to their spiritual nature, being, quintessence, and so on and so forth. This is perhaps taken from the fact that whenever people asked what the Buddha was, in terms of occupations, such as what are you, he would reply, "I am awake." However, at this point, for those that are unfamiliar with this movement, I can almost hear the question on everyone's mind ringing in the back of my conscious mind, as a kind of precognition I suppose, as to what these unique and rare souls mean by ascension, or what kind of ascension do they speak of, and no, it isn't comparable to the age of enlightenment, in terms of intellectual or philosophical ideas, although in a kind of paradoxical way, it also does, at least in terms of ascending into our true spiritual nature, which could very well lead to enlightenment or nirvana, as opposed to a plethora of ideologies and conceptualizations that defined the epoch of human history ranging from the 17th to 19th century. However, what this also speaks directly to, the main concept behind this movement as it were, is that in this process, of more and more people becoming aware of their true nature, their spiritual essence as it were, that the ascension taking place is one that elevates us from a 3-Dimensional existence into that of a 5-dimensional reality; that is ascension into 5-D, quite literally. At the same time, however, that is not the only ascension that is taking place at this level. In another breath, it also refers to the fact that as a byproduct of this process, that we are expanding our collective consciousness or unconsciousness for that matter, and elevating it to new heights. There is so much more to this movement, so much in fact that I have created for an entire website, just for the purpose of relaying that information, but at the forefront of this page, I do want to focus on and emphasize one thing in particular, before I get lost in divulging as much as I can on the topic at hand.

Perhaps the one thing that makes me most happy about this movement in question, and makes me more inclined to readily hop on board, as it were, is in the mere fact that this is something that is largely overdue here in our humble abode that is planet earth. As spiritual leader Eckhart Toelle noted in his own observations of planetary consciousness in his book, The Power of Now, "It is time that we evolve or die," and the evolution that he refers to is that of our own sense of consciousness, and the impact that we have at large on the lives of others, and on a much larger scale, or planet, and even on a universal level. In this way, it is my own opinion, take it with a grain of salt, and as you will, that more than ever, we need more spiritual leaders, more Eckart Toelle's, Osho's, Ram Dass's, Jim Carrey's, and other individuals of this spiritual caliber than we do politicians, CEO's, bankers, or any other profession for that matter. The basis of this observation, one that is also highlighted in Eckart Toelle's, The Power of Now, as it is reiterated in, A New Earth, is found in the way that, to a certain extent, we are a sort of unconscious insane asylum in the middle of the universe, and quite arguably the multiverse, but we won't get into issues of Astrophysics or String Theory, at least not as of now. To be painstakingly honest, we have been severed from our spiritual nature, and the consequence of this is the state of the planet that we see all around us. As a species, we are the most destructive and have caused more deaths than any other species, and yet we describe ourselves as twice as wise amongst all other creatures when a mere bumblebee is of more ecological and environmental importance than we are. Warfare and weapons of mass destruction or both socially accepted and commonplace, necessary even. By extension, this includes all of the atrocities of genocide, the bombings of both Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and quite soon in the not too distant future, that may even entail weaponizing space. And the greatest tragedy of this is found in the way that we sold the lie that warfare is a necessity for our freedom and other liberties and rights as it were when the reality is that it is for the accumulation of wealth and resources.

That may seem a bit of a stretch for some, especially the extreme conservatives that are proud to be an American, when they are blinded to the fact that they are citizens of a much larger area, planet earth to be exact, citizens of the universe to be more exact, but people hold fast to their beliefs, beliefs that they would gladly die from, even if they are imposed to separate and distance masses so people will fail to see that their power is in the numbers, working together as a collective, but then again, even the Native Americans failed to remember this in the midst of the Revolutionary War. However, if this is not the case, please, I beseech thee, explain away the way in which Standard Oil was the highest profiteer in the great war, selling petroleum to both sides of that grand scale slaughter of human life, and the extent in which it was a necessity. Nothing has changed in that regard either. Raytheon has done the same thing, generating ridiculous sums of monetary gain by selling missiles and a vast gamut of weaponry to all players across the globe. I could be out of my depth here, but, at the same time, my Uncle was the President of Raytheon at the end of his highly pretentious military career, and the stories I've heard ranging from Saudi Arabia to Dubai, are pretty consistent through and through. And that doesn't even get into how warfare has throughout the ages, consistently been the main economic powerhouse for boasting economies, just look at WWII. Not only that, but we glorify it to the Nth degree, on the movie screen, and in the video games that are responsible for all the school shootings. Sorry if my honesty offends.

The spiritual poverty of our planet is observed in the way that we are so economically poor. Three percent of the global populace owns the majority of the wealth in what is referred to as pecuniary emulation, which is just fancy jargon for what is believed to be the best distribution of wealth. In the United States, the society as a whole is considered to be one of the most advanced throughout the world, although, I am of my own opinion against this idea, nonetheless, articles ring out from the U.N. that the U.S. is the most unequal advanced nations in terms of wealth distribution. This is evident in the way that collegiate students are up to their eyes in debt, which is well over a billion dollars, paying into it like the churches of old, not to mention the fact that they are simply not getting what they are paying for. The saddest part, however, is that for years, they were flat out lied to, being told stories that it would secure their sense of financial stability and that statistically speaking, individuals who go to college make more money, when the reality of the situation is that they have tremendous debt that is compounded and that they cannot declare bankruptcy on. Not only that, but there is the very real reality that, as a result of inflation, the thirty-year-old today, is making the same as the thirty-year-old thirty years ago. This is also inherently evident in the way that 500 dollars, which doesn't even cover rent for most, is a lot of money to the average American. This is exemplified in the way that to the majority, a household can not afford an unexpected expenditure, let's say a trip to the vet. Now that's a dilemma. Whatever shall happen to Fido? Just as it is painstakingly evident in mere conversation when the manager of an outfit says something along the lines of, shoot, twenty dollars is a lot to me. Although that isn't even the tip of the iceberg in terms of how what is defined as the cost of living is hardly that. For instance, a single mom working two jobs in California, at the said limit, will consistently be in the red at the end of each month when all bills, utilities, and necessities such as food are calculated. And the spiritual poverty is evident and so many countless ways. We see it as we lay waste to our planet in just about every way fathomable from deforestation to fracking, and everything else in-between. There is no denying that we are seeing the dire ramifications that we are having on our climate and everything else for that matter, but Politicians, Trump, cough, cough, insist that it's a joke, hire cabinet members that essentially dismantle the EPA, and withdraw us from the Paris Agreement, and basically make no effort to do anything about it, simply because it isn't profitable. What will all the money on Earth buy if we destroy our only home? It would seem the defining characteristic of our lot is destruction. We breathe it in from the smog and waste of the cities, and we watch in awe as it takes the form of some weaponized tool capable of decimating entire populations. Then it becomes any wonder why the issue of mental illness is still a problem. We say things like, well according to Darwinism, we should have smitten it out by now. However, in truth, the asylums act as a kind of mirror as it were. They reveal to us the way in which, we are social creators that adapt for our survival, and what we are being asked to adapt to is both crazy and chaotic. Personal tangent and ventilation aside, I shall return to the point of this post. In creating for a website that's purpose was that of spirituality, the thing that was most pressing to my mind was a matter of what should be the discussion for the first post; the previous posts were a kind of musing or writing on the matter as opposed to a didactic article. As such, the spiritual movement that has gripped the globe, with some two million-plus followers, with leaders or pioneers of this topic such as Aaron Doughty, has with it a copious amount of conceptualizations, ideologies, and theories that are all very fascinating and thought-provoking; a great deal of which will be covered in the context of this website. This includes such sentiments as Twin Flame relationships, which are like soul mates on crack, neutrality, ascension into higher dimensions, energy, frequency, vibrations, and other notions that share tremendous parallelisms in Physis, especially in the category of String Theory, as it proposes that there are as many as twelve unforeseen dimensions to our reality, in addition to star seeds, star seed missions, rainbow children, and so much more to living a multi-dimensional life, and in the context of relating to expanded consciousness. While each of these topics is as fascinating as they are fanciful in their contrivance, I do have one major concern insofar as these are a tremendous deviation from what we have previously seen from authentic and enlightened spiritual leaders, and my concern is that the focus will be on these ideas and thought-forms, as opposed to the intended outcome, which is that of increased, awareness, mindfulness, and hopefully one day enlightenment, which brings me to the title of this post.

Throughout every spiritual period known to man, by and large, the message has remained the same wholely and consistently, albeit, it has been watered down and misconstrued throughout the ages in what we collectively call religion, and it still surprises me that such holy text has called for us to be spiritual as opposed religious, and this speaks to just one of the many ways that we have missed the mark. The message of every Jesus, Buddha, Osho, or what we could call an Ascended Master is that of love; if you could summarize it in a word it would be love, and yet we massacre millions under false pretenses of religion. At the same time, it is also summarized in the Tao Te Ching, which I suppose would be the mystic and oriental equivalent to Toelle's the Power of the Now, for its emphasis is that of being one with the power of the infinite now. Moreover, within the depths of their works, what we can also observe as a sort of constant in each and every case in these particular individuals, is that the sense of nirvana that they attained, although enlightenment is not something that is attained, it is dormant within each and every one of us, is that the methodology for reaching this level of consciousness or this state of being, has always been, for the most part relatively simple. The doorway to bliss has always been found in the most basic of human functionality. Buddha found enlightenment under a tree and meditating out in nature; this part is by and large common knowledge of the ascended master that chose a life of suffering over untold materialistic means as Prince of a King. However, the martyr though Buddha was, found this passage through near six years of mediation, that is, deep focused meditation on the basic human function of breathing. This was also the path that Ram Dass took, though it took him twelve years as opposed to six. Similarly, the crux of Osho's approaches to tantra, as with tantra in and of itself, begins with ten breathing techniques for this very reason. Oddly enough, this is a big problem in our society, especially Western society, where shallow breathing is typical as opposed to deep breathing. This is very interesting when you consider that there are countries in the East that believe that are lifespan is found in the number of breaths we have, and it is perhaps because of the fact that the Buddha once said that all of life could be measured in a single breath, the ultimate doorway to this present moment.

In likewise fashion, the message of the Tao Te Ching or the works of Toelle and other Ascended Masters or Spiritual Leaders, for the most part at least, are similar in this way. Both of these works in a specific focus on obtaining this blissful state of being or consciousness by merely bringing all of one's awareness into the present moment, the endless now, which by no means sounds like a difficult thing to accomplish, but then it takes on an entirely different form when one tries to put it into practice, especially in the west, where so much of the society is based on the construct of time, or at least psychological time, in all the places that we have to be at some future point, or how we are going to make it to this meeting, and so constantly are mind wanders and drifts to some other place asides from where we are in this present moment. On that note, I will conclude with the fact that, while all these interesting ideas have their own value and purpose, and while this period of spirituality is very exciting on its own merit, that the path to spirituality, enlightenment, bliss, or nirvana has, and always will be found in the little things, so, yeah, Just breath, pause, and enjoy the little things. If there was any spiritual message that I could convey to anyone, that I found more important than anything else, it would be that.
